Housebreaking Molly Part II

I have to admit that housebreaking Molly is becoming a chore. She has the peeing down pat but she still likes pooping around the house leaving wiener dog sausages for us to clean up. She knows it’s the wrong place to poop and should go outside but insists on doing it in one of her favorite corners or under the dining room table.

She’s figured out how to sit and how to shake. How come she just can’t poop outside?

Wiener Dog Saturday

Last Saturday, we decided that three doxies were too much to handle while my wife hosted a baby shower at our home. Molly was simple. Just leave her with our son for a few hours to watch. Chloe was easy. She just slept on our bed (actually she thinks it’s her bed). A little barking by both, but no trouble at the party.

Odie on the other hand, is difficult since he barks and scratches at the door. I decided to take him shopping for a few hours. Our first stop was PETsMART. We walk around the store for about one-half hour while he sniffed at every place another dog peed. He picked out a new purple 99-cent dog ball and we got a few treats for later in the day. It was very busy and everyone was looking and wanting to pet the cute Minature Dachshund.

Odie is not used to handling so he shies away from people. He almost got into a fight with a German Shepherd but they quickly resolved the issue with a little more sniffing. Odie was glad to leave PetSmart and we headed to his favorite sandwich shop: Quiznos.

I order a Ham and Swiss, Pepsi and a bottle of water for Odie then we drove to the lake at Westlake Village to enjoy our lunch. Sitting, in the car, I was admiring the lake while Odie was admiring the Ham and Swiss. He got a few tidbits and was satisfied. We still had about an hour before the party was over so we took a short nap in the car.

After a while, we drove home just in time when everyone was leaving. There were a few guests left and he was on his best behavior.

Three Wiener Dogs Eat Lots of Greenies

Greenies Petite BULK (150-Carton)

My three wiener dogs, Chloe, Odie and Molly eat Greenies every day. They get one every morning but usually Odie gets two because he steals Molly’s when she gets distracted. Needless to say they eat a lot of Greenies. Although we love to spoil our 3 Doxies, we do like to save money and buying Greenies in bulk saves us several hundred dollars per year. The best price that we found on the internet is at EntirelyPets.com where you can save up to 70% off EntirelyPets Daily Deals!.

Two Doxies Playing Ball

Odie and Molly love playing ball together. Molly hasn’t caught on that she’s suppose to fetch the ball and return it yet, so she just chases Odie when he fetches the ball and trys to take it from him. Molly has a ferocious growl when she’s playing tug-a-war with Odie especially when they’re fighting over their red-white-blue and yellow rubber dog ball.

I’m not sure how I managed to capture those two weiner dogs in action with their favorite ball since they’re always a blur on camera.

Dachshund Black and White Beauty

Dachshund by Evelyn Morris HechtThe simplicity of charcoal drawings often amplifies the beauty of the Dachshund. Evelyn Morris Hecht brings out this beauty in her Dachshund drawing. Evelyn Morris Hecht is an incredible artist that captures the likeness of all the dogs she draws. Dachshund owners should own a print of their favorite dog. Evelyn Morris Hecht prints are available at Art.com.

Which Doxie does this print remind you of? Do you think it’s Chloe, Odie or Molly? Take a guess.

Those Squeaky Dog Balls

Vinyl Dog Balls are Chloe and Odie’s favorite dog toys. We used to buy expensive toys but found that both dogs favor the inexpensive 99-cent balls over the more expensive ones. Once a month we pick up two or three new balls that they go crazy over. It must be that new vinyl smell. We buy all our dog balls at PETsMART since they tend to have the best selection.

Chloe is very passive and will give up the ball to Odie except when it’s new. She’ll protect that ball like it’s her newborn pup. Once the newness wears off she’ll start playing with Odie again.

Housebreaking Molly

Molly is not housebroken and has frequent accidents. Part of the problem is that we do not pay attention to her all the time and when she and Odie stop playing she heads to the door and lets it go.

When we catch her in the act she gets scolded otherwise all praise when she does her business outdoors. Today I had to scold her for peeing on the carpet. My wife got a picture of Molly watching me clean up her mess. She was truly sorry and promptly gave me puppy kisses. After that, I forgave her.

It’s been very difficult potty training her. I think that the rainy weather in Southern California hampered her training. When house breaking your dog, you need to be patient.

Molly – The Crazy Red Hed Dachshund

Molly is a red, longhaired Miniature Dachshund born on 11/17/2004. Molly is the cutest and smartest Doxie on this planet (except for perhaps Chloe and Odie). Her parents are Pepper Red V and Taffany Dee. I fell in love with Molly the first time I laid eyes on her. After visiting the pet store about five times, I took my wife over there and she fell in love with Molly too. My only thought when we purchased her was that “I must be crazy.”

Odie – The Smartest Dachshund West of the Mississippi

Odie is a red, shorthaired Miniature Dachshund born on 6/22/2002 in Oklahoma. Odie is the smartest Doxie on this planet (except for perhaps Molly). His Sire (Daddy) is Kawk-Eye Image and his Dam (Mommy) is Endres Molly.

Odie is very protective and has a distinctive black racing stripe that stands up when he is outside protecting the backyard. He successfully passed his clicker-training class and can walk circles around objects. His favorite trick is to “go around Chloe” where he runs circles around her for a treat.

Chloe – My Barking Dachshund

Chloe is a female, black and tan longhaired Miniature Dachshund born on 4/5/1999. She is the cutest Doxie on this planet (except for perhaps Molly). She has the sweetest disposition and is very friendly. Her Sire (Daddy) is Renfrow’s Moon Stalker and her Dam (Mommy) is Renfrow’s Kiva.

Chole loves to play ball. If you throw a ball up the stairs and she’ll fetch it for you. But instead of bringing the ball back to you, she rolls the ball down the stairs.
